The HanZhong region, according to the warm climate and abundant rainfall,known as the small region of the south of theYangtzeRiver in northwest that locates inthe boundary of the north and the south, whose the north nears to Qinling, the southshields of BaMountain and the center is the HanZhong basin and what is more, theHan river goes through all the region. Thanks to the unique geographical location andthe unique natural resources, its agriculture has its unique feature that is to say thereare both southern paddy agriculture and the dry farming in the north.In this paper, the research is about the agricultural development of the region inthe Qing dynasty.First, this paper discusses the natural conditions and natural resources ofagricultural development in this region, combing the trajectory of the development ofregional agriculture and the Qing dynasty before.Second, the mainly discussion is the number of the population and cultivatedland and the distribution in the region in Qing dynasty, and also discussed the reasonsof the population and labor resources in the different times and the increase ordecrease of cultivated land surplus shrinks, at the same time, this paper also discussesthe development of the regional water conservancy irrigation.What is more, we make an analysis the planting structure of the region, anddiscusses cropping system and planting technology of the rice, wheat, corn, potato,and also discusses the other economic crops planting and distribution, such asmulberry, tea, cotton, tobacco;In the end, from the standpoint of the historical geography we make asummarizes and analyzes by the means of literatures and on-the-spot investigationand analysis by synthesis in order to presents a general picture of agriculturaldevelopment in this region in the Qing dynasty, and highlights the relationshipbetween the human and the land, and also provides historical reference for today’sagricultural development in our region.
