A Translation Practice Report About PPC4Pressure Controller/Calibration Operation And Maintenance Manual

The text of science and technology is a type of large numbers in current society.Correspondingly, the translation of this text is also important at present. This thesis is a report onthe English to Chinese translation practice of PPC4Pressure Controller/Calibration Operationand Maintenance Manual.The first section gives a brief description about the background of choosing the source textand the significance of the thesis. It also illustrates the current situation of translation study on thetext of science and technology. The second section is the preparation for the translation project,which includes the task description, the plan for the translation as well as the choice of toolsduring the translation process. The third section, the translator gives a summary of four features inthe text of science and technology. The key points in these texts can be emphasized through theanalysis of features. The fourth section of the thesis contains three parts, the problems andstrategies in the translation process, the formulation of glossary and the choice of parallel texts.Case analysis is the fifth section. In this section, the translator discusses the skills in translating thetext of science and technology from the aspects of words, voice and sentence. The experience oftranslation is in the sixth section, mainly concludes the the importance of translation theory andbasic translators’ qualities. The last section, Summary and Conclusion, mainly summarizes thistranslation project and discusses the deficiency of the translation.The translator aims at summarizing the features, translation skills and shortage in the text ofscience and technology through the translation practice and the guidance of translation theory,giving a reference to the future translation.
