Witches of East End is a best-selling novel which was written by American writer Melissade la Cruz, publishing in the year of2011. This fantasy novel told a story about an insulartown. One resident of this town was killed mysteriously one day, and then a series of weirdthings happened here. Three witches of this town began to investigate it and found out themurder eventually. Afterwards, they realized they faced a greater challenge. This novelcomposed of rhetoric and beautiful language as well as bizarre plot. The translator selectedthe prologue and the first three chapters as the source text, which respectively described thecharacters of three heroines. In the translation process, the translator tried to use authenticfantasy words and elegant sentences to express the spirit of the source text. After consultingsome literary translation strategies and theories, the translator adopted the theory offaithfulness, expressiveness and elegance, which was put forward by Yan Fu at the first time.Besides, the translator also integrated several other techniques, such as sense-for-sensetranslation strategy, reinvent sentence structure, split and so on, which helped the translatorto rewrite a beautiful target text to comply with the theory of faithfulness, expressivenessand eleganceThis translation report consists of four parts: task description, process description, casestudy and conclusion. The first chapter mainly gives us a brief introduction of the relevantbackground knowledge of the source text, following with the translation process andquality-control methods. Chapter3deals with some translation techniques employed by thetranslator, in the end, the translator concludes the difficulties she met and improvementmeasures.
