With almost a hundred years’ development, aerospace has been the most activeand influential scientific and technological area in21century. The achievement in thisfield is not only a significant symbol of the development of human civilization, butalso an important identification of the growth rate of science and technology. Atpresent, all countries are devoted to developing aerospace technology, which generatesmore new terms. Therefore, aerospace terms translation attracts increasing attention ininternational community.By means of empirical study, this thesis discusses the E-C translation strategiesand methods of aerospace terms in A New English-Chinese Aerospace Dictionaryedited by Professor Hua Renjie. Featuring in neologisms, it is a special technicaldictionary with over70,000words, from which the author of this thesis has selected25,000words and then classified them with examples through six main translationmethods of literal translation, literal translation plus annotation, free translation, paraphrasing, transliteration plus free translation and transliteration to furthersummarize the corresponding translation thoughts and strategies.Through the statistical analysis method, the author has concluded that theSemantic Translation Theory can serve as a guiding theory for translating aerospaceterms. Under the guidance of the Semantic Translation Theory, the connotativemeanings of terms can be retained as much as possible and the translated text can beeasily understood by the target readers.
