A Project Report On The Translation Of The Articles Of Foreign Cultural Exchanges Published In The World & Chongqing

The selected articles of this report are selected from The World & Chongqing,an only major monthly magazine concerning foreign affairs in Chongqing.The selected text is comprised of six articles concerning foreign cultural exchanges between Chongqing and the rest of the world with an aim to present deeper impact exerted on the Chongqing economic and social development by foreign cultural exchanges.This translation report firstly has a brief introduction to translation project and background of original text,and then focuses on both original text and translation.On the basis of translation practice and its analysis,some conclusions are drawn in the following: the original text is rich in content and deep in meaning;its language is well-considered with frequent uses of culture-loaded words,special cultural terms and four-character words;long & complicated sentences and parallel sentences can be seen frequently.In the process of translation,in order to meet the purpose of promoting foreign cultural exchanges,the translator mainly adopts Newmark's text typology theory while combining his semantic translation and communicative translation.To better represent the original meaning and cultural connotation,the translator employs many translation methods like omission,annotation,conversion,reframing sentence structure,division and combination.
