Jian Xian’ai is the first one from GuiZhou province, who became famous writer in Chinese modern literature by creating " Vernacular Novels". This paper mainly study Jian Xian’ai’s vernacular novels in the20s and30s.On the basis of the text, this paper will exploit the profound aesthetic connotation of vernacular novels through the value of the vernacular writing, folk narrative of the legendary, the expression of time rendering of the tragic spirit and the value of true and the good.The first chapter will introduce Jian Xian’ai’s vernacular novels from before to late period and explore the valuable transformation of vernacular writing. In the stage of personal feelings, it mainly includes writer’s memories of hometown and remembrance. His works are given priority to subjective lyricism, and cater to the theme of The May4th enlightenment. In vernacular writing stage, with the aid of his experience, he stood at the height of realism, and paid attention to our social reality and the depiction of the folk custom of Qianbei. On the basis of the literary works, his pursuit also criticized the folk culture, and completed the value of the vernacular writing on hometown.Second, Jian Xian’ai thought and narrated by a kind of folk perspective, and adopted the folk narrative to take care of the country and the average individual’s life. He often adopted strange narrative to write the country’s legendary life of Qianbei, which made his works present a legendary aesthetic pursuit. At the same time, his works on the legendary seems overblown, which made the readability, but also led to a "legend" effect.Again, on the one hand, Jian Xian’ai used the description of horror scene to create the aesthetic feeling in tragedy beauty and the industrious and misery experiences of the poor in it revealed the tragedy of fate.
