A Report On The Interpreting Project Of2013China Tour Of Tremper Golden Strings Of America

As a report on liaison interpreting, this dissertation describes one liaison interpreting task conducted by the author for the2013China Tour of Tremper Golden Strings of America and analyzes the typical cases during the tour to discuss common difficulties of liaison interpreting as well as possible coping strategies and solutions.Reviewing the task process, the report divides "interpreting" into three phases according to time order, each with a different focus and function, and presents the transcript of both the original speech and the author’s interpretation, from which typical examples are selected for further analysis from three perspectives:(1) Interpreting of professional terms,(2) Interpreting of poetry and proverbs,(3) Analysis of hesitation, correction and misinterpretation.Through the task description and analysis, it is found that the pre-interpreting preparation, mental quality and summary of post-interpreting have an influence on the success of the interpreting task. And all these factors are always reflected on the graduates. Both pre-interpreting preparation and good mental quality are very important for the interpreting process. In addition, summary of post-interpreting also contributes to the development of interpreting skills and increases the success possibility of the following interpreting task.
