| As a report of Simultaneous interpreting (SI), this thesis describes one SI task by the author for the2013Video Conference of Sinosure.Hebei Branch, this task is English to Chinese simultaneous interpreting (E-C Si) with text. And the content of the conference contains the macro economic situation of India and Pakistan Area, special customs policy, the risk prevention and dispute resolution in foreign trade, the current situation and prospect of India chemical, and the legal system of India and Pakistan Area, etc. This thesis analyzes the interpretation of conference PPT, discusses the possible problems in E-C SI with text and probes into the corresponding strategies and solutions.The author divides the task process into two parts:pre-interpreting preparation and interpreting. The pre-interpreting preparation consists of3parts according to time order, the author states job contents in detail of every part. In the interpreting part, the author presents the transcript of both the original text and the author’s interpretation.Then, the author selects the typical examples for further analysis from three perspectives:(1) the guiding effect of Gile Model;(2) How to deal with the legal English in SI with text;(3) Analysis of hesitation and misinterpretation.According to the task description and analysis, the author gets the following conclusions. First, the importance of pre-interpreting preparation includes the accumulation of specialized knowledge and the familiarity of the text, etc, and they play an important role in the successful interpretation. Second, a summary of problems is listed, including coping with long sentences, listening barriers and the "text" itself as a double-edged sword. It could help interpreters create high quality interpretation, but it can be an obstacle to the interpreter to develop freely. Finally, the author gets some methods to guide SI:interpreters should improve the language ability, accumulate rich knowledge and keep a good psychological quality. |
