| As a report on Chinese to English simultaneous interpreting(C-E SI)with text, this dissertation describes the very first SI task conducted by the author for the speech,The Key Issues of Chinese Companies Investment in Russia, delivered by speaker Chenxia on the "One Belt One Road" Sino-Russia Investment Market Forum so as to discuss some difficulties of this C-E SI with text as well as available coping strategies and solutions. With the task being composed of “pre-interpreting preparation” and “interpreting”,the report divides “pre-interpreting preparation” into two phases, each with a different focus and function, and presents the transcript of the original speech and the author’s interpretation, from which typical examples are selected for further studies from three perspectives:(1)Analysis of misinterpretation, omission, correction and hesitation,(2)Strategy of syntactic linearity,and(3)Strategy of simplification, which is under the circumstances of impromptu speech. The task description and analysis result in such conclusions: First, adequate pre-interpreting preparation is conducive to the success of a SI task; Moreover, when it comes to impromptu speech suddenly, interpreters should switch to SI without text decisively for the success of the task;Last but not the least, the interpreting pace should be kept properly in accordance with the speaker so as to avoid unnecessary omission, correction and hesitation. |
