Culture teaching has an irreplaceable role in foreign Chinese teaching. As a part of thecurriculum system, cultural course is a comprehensive use of the language knowledge for thelearners, and it contains various skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. It is acomprehensive course. The ultimate goal of foreign students learning Chinese is to be able tosmoothly accomplish cross-cultural communication in Chinese social environment to meet thediverse needs of their own, and culture teaching just provides a good platform to achievelearning goals to the learners. From this perspective, culture teaching is very important forforeign students in foreign Chinese teaching.Cultural course is a keeper to combine theory and practice. Students can place thetheoretical language knowledge which learned in the classroom in a variety of culturalcontexts. So it can lay a solid foundation for students to accomplish the cross-culturalexchange in the real world of second culture. This necessarily requires that the externalprocess of teaching Chinese culture should reflect the principles of learning theory withpractice, learning in practice, used in practice. So it can better play culture teaching a properrole in foreign language teaching. However, traditional teaching methods have someshortcomings in this respect. The Performed Culture Approach is a new kind of secondlanguage teaching method. This paper will originally apply the approach to the foreignChinese culture teaching. Compared to the previous method of teaching culture, the teachingmethod has the irreplaceable unique advantages. The teaching method drill culture as its goaland it pay more attention to train students to learn appropriate cultural exchanges in thesimulative Chinese cultural environment. So it can successfully let students build the secondcultural worldview in the process of learning.This article firstly introduces the general situation of the Performed Culture Approach.Then I discuss the teaching design which applies the approach to the behavior cultureteaching. Finally I design a concrete teaching plan based on an article “new friend” of theculture teaching material. So it carries on the preliminary exploration of the teaching processthat applies the approach to the culture teaching. In the end I analyze the expected teachingeffects, including the teaching advantages and possible problems in the process of application. This paper mainly discusses the Performed Culture Approach in the application of the foreignChinese cultural teaching. And it can enable the culture teaching to achieve the better teachingeffect, but also to ensure that students learn more in line with the characteristics and thusachieve their learning objectives.So it can further improve the quality of cultural teaching.
