Chinese sounds are the basic knowledge when foreign students first approach Chinese learning and also the principle difficulties throughout their entire learning process. Kenya is a country with non-tone language, and therefore, the students there feel tremendously hard to learn the toned Chinese well. It is of vital importance to study and master the tone well in Chinese learning since this directly determines whether students can produce correct sounds, so that they perform good communication in reality. This paper gives a detailed analysis on the common and individual tone problems of Chinese sounds based on the language learning background in Kenya. Focusing on the teaching practice, this paper tries to sum up the problems and experience in tone teaching of Chinese sounds, aiming to find a practical method by which we can examine our teaching efficiency and eventually improve our tone teaching of Chinese sounds in Kenya.
