The United States is a nation which was constituted of immigrantsfrom different countries and regions. Tens of millions of immigrants across the ocean tothe North American continent for centuries. Immigration of different times had thedifferent effects to the historical process of America. Three Chinese arrived toCalifornia in1848that was the first Chinese labor to California in the official records.In mid-late-nineteenth century, with the wave of gold rush sweeping the globe, theChinese from southeast traveled to the North American continent in order to earning aliving. Most of them are male farmers, and they have received almost no schooling.After they reach the United State, they mainly concentrated in the western UnitedStates,especially the California which was the Chinese most concentrated area. Theywere called “Chinese labor” because of the low wages and hard work The Chineselaborers became a major local workforce tick to their tradition, thrift and hard.After they arrived,they was developed to the western states, including theexploitation of mineral, construction of railways, wasteland development anddevelopment of agriculture. Since the endeavor of Chinese labor, the swamp becameinto fertile fields and California became to be the biggest granary. Chinese labors madea great contribution to the Light industry such as clothing, shoes, canned manufacturingand the service industry such as catering industry and laundry. No matter in which field,Chinese labors won the admiration of people rely on their technical skills andindomitable spirit. Their contributions to American especially to California waswitnessed by the world, that is to say, prosperity of the western United States have arelationship with the contribution of laborers.But with the end of gold rush and therailroading, Chinese labors was treated unfairly by part of a racist and the Americangovernment. Began with the Anti—Chinese Movement in California, the wave of anti-Chinese quickly swept through the Americas. In the Anti-Chinese Movement, theU.S. government developed a series of Chinese Exclusion Act especially the ChineseExclusion Act of1882, which cause great shame and persecution to Chinese American.The injustice have improved until1943when repealed the Chinese Exclusion Act.
