This is a report on translation of Establishing Self-Access—From Theory toPractice (Chapter3,4,5) which talks about a typology of self-access,management ofself-access facilities and learner profile. There is no official translation since thebook was introduced to China, thus, the translation project can provide sometheoretical guidance to the domestic researchers. At the same time, the interpreterexpects to improve the translation ability and knows more about the Self—Access. The translation project is based on the Peter Newmark’s Text Type Theory whichdivided the text into three main types: expressive text、informative text and vocativetext. After the analysis of the interpreter, the original text can be classified toinformative text with expressive text to some degree, thus, communicativetranslation is adopted in translation process. The communicative translationconsiders the text should be translated in view of the language habits and culture ofthe target language. If the interpreter want to meet the requirements ofcommunicative translation, he or she should adopts some specific translationmethods to adjust the original language structure.
