A Phonological Study Of Tun-huang Secular Fu And Verse

A phonological study of Tun-huang secular Fu and Verse敦煌世俗文赋体韵文rhyming in Tang and Five Dynasties has been performed in this paper. Tun-huang secular Fu and Verse includes Gathas, Inscriptions, Fu赋and Folk Poetry. Through analyzing and associating these verses, we divided it into twenty-four rhyming-categories, which consist of seven Yinsheng阴声韵,nine Yangsheng阳声韵and eight Rusheng入声韵The Yinsheng refers to Gege歌戈部,Jiama家麻部,Yumo鱼模部,Jiehai皆�'�部,Zhiwei支微部,Xiaohao萧豪部and Youhou尤侯部,and the Yangsheng is composed of Tamyam覃盐部,Qimxum侵寻部,Hanxian�'先部,Zhenwen真文部,Jiangyang江阳部,Gengqing庚�'部,Zhengdeng�'�登部,Dongzhong东�'�部．In terms of the Rusheng, it consists of Yepyep叶业部,Jipship缉拾部,Yuetxuet月薛部,Zhitwut质物部,Juekduok觉铎部,Mokxik陌锡部,Zhikdek职德部,Wukzhuk屋烛部．Some dialect phenomena of the rhyming of Tun-huang secular Fu and Verse are reflected in this thesis, when they are compared with phonology of Guangyun广韵．There were several phonological characteristics in finals.It was reflected that the boundaries became blurred between some velar Jia and Ma佳韵牙音与麻韵,Zhis and Yus支脂之微与鱼虞,labial Youhou and Yumo. Moreover, Yuan元韵\vas already part of HanxianThe final-endings of the[-m],[-n] and [-η], which were considered to be three distinguishing features of the Yangsheng, had become insignificant. The similar phenomenon was also found between [-p],[-t] and [-k],the distinguishing features of Rusheng. Additionally, there were a few special phonological signs that some characters of Zhi-group and Yu-groups止摄�'�遇摄were mixed with the Yangsheng阳声字which came from Shem-group深摄,Zhen-group臻摄and Geng-group梗摄．In addition, some characters of Zeng-group曾摄were also mingled with Tong-groups通摄and Geng-groups.From the perspective of tones, the rising tone rhymed with the departing tone was a common phenomenon in Tang and Five Dynasties.The voiced rising tone was getting into the departing tone, and the even tone is similar to the departing tone.In short,we could find some characteristics of Northwest dialect by studying of Tun-huang secular Fu and Verse rhyming.
