With the improvement of living standards and the speeding up of agingpopulation, the elderly pay more and more attention to their leisure. Though researcheson leisure satisfaction and flow experiences have made some advances, studies onthem in term to the elderly are few, and also lack of localization measuring tools. Inaddition, few researchers have explored the relationship between the leisuresatisfaction, flow experiences and subjective well-being of the elderly. Therefore, thepurpose of this study is to develop questionnaire of leisure satisfaction and flowexperiences of the elderly, to explore current status of them and the relationshipbetween them and subjective well-being of the elderly.The31-items,30-items original questionnaire for leisure satisfaction and flowexperiences was designed on the basis of the literature review, open questionnaire andexpertise knowledge. The forecast sample of200elder and the test sample of350elderwere separately recruited from different areas of Chongqing, and154and302werevalidity, respectively. Two factors, totally9items, were extracted by EFA, which wereleisure social satisfaction,leisure environmental satisfaction, and explained51.987%ofthe total variance. This2-factors construct was confirmed by CFA (χ2/df=3.649,RMS-EA=0.094,CFI=0.929).The internal consistency reliability of the full questionnairescore was0.755,and those of three factors were0.771-0.846. Three factors, totally11items, were extracted by EFA, which were a sense of control,a sense of flow, andparticular goals explained51.987%of the total variance. This2-factors construct wasconfirmed by CFA (χ2/df=7.246,RMSEA=0.144,CFI=0.791).The internal consistencyreliability of the full questionnaire score was0.849,and those of three factors were0.620-0.795.In addition, investigated the characterization and status of the leisuresatisfaction and flow experiences of the elderly and explored the relationship betweenthe them and subjective well-being of the elderly. The conclusions of this study are asfollows:(1)The Questionnaire on mental health of the elderly includes two factors: theleisure social satisfaction,leisure environmental satisfaction. The Questionnaire on mental health of the elderly includes three factors: the a sense of control,a sense offlow, and particular goals.The Questionnaire has good reliability and validity and canbe used as a measurement tool.(2)The elderly held a pretty positive view of their leisure satisfaction and flowexperiences.(3)The demographic variables had significant effects on the dimensions of leisuresatisfaction of the elderly, including gender, age.The demographic variables hadsignificant effects on the dimensions of flow experiences of the elderly, includingorigin, profession, education,marital state,economic and health state.(4)The leisure satisfaction of the elderly had not a significant difference in origin,profession, education,marital state,economic and health state.The flow experiences ofthe elderly had not a significant difference in gender, age.(5)The leisure satisfaction and flow experiences and subjective well-being of theelderly take on significant relationship.
