Connotations Of Chinese Diet Idioms And Foreign Chinese Teaching

Diet Idioms are one sort of culturally-loaded words in Chinese vocabularyinventory. Those distinctive idioms are refined from the long-term languagecommunication, further into a fixed form of language. It plays an important role intransmitting Chinese intangible cultural heritage. Through setting and analyzing, thepaper holds that no specific study on different types of idioms has been made yet. Thepaper sets forth that idioms with the morpheme of diets could be discussed on the sideof foreign language teaching and to make up the deficiencies and vacancies of formerstudies. Based on the research on Chinese diet idioms, this paper argues that since thediet idioms share various rhetorical devices and diversified structure types, the Chineseway of thinking, views of value and the understanding of traditional cultures could bebrought out in a deeper way. As diet idioms have been actively used, the research landof it could be deeply dug up. However, the unique feature of diet idioms, as well asdifferent life backgrounds and cultural concepts of foreign learners, makes it hard tothe study on die idioms. This paper aims to cross the double barriers of culture andlangue, thus correctly mastering diet idioms.The topic basis and significance, the research status, the possibility of future studyand the innovations are provided in the first part of the paper. In the second part, thesource of Chinese diet culture is initially discussed and the reason for the importantposition of diet culture is also generally analyzed. In the third part, the questionnairedesigned by the author and its detailed analysis is introduced. The problemsencountered in the study of Chinese are summarized and the corresponding solutionsare also provided. In the forth part, some biased errors generalized in the questionnaireare categorized into four major kinds and each is analyzed in detail. Feasible teachingmethods for the study on Chinese diet idioms at the intermediate and advanced stageare provided and discussed in the last part of the paper.Study on Chinese diet idioms not only helps us better inherit Chinese intangibleculture heritage, but also remarkably strengthens the expression effects of language.Meanwhile, foreign learners with great interests on Chinese diet and culture could havea deeper understanding of Chinese culture.
