Then he published somemid-long novels, such as the "beauty", the "wolf disaster", the "rebirth of Yinger" etc.He became a decisive leader in Gansu literature. The "Desert offering", the "originalhunting", the "white tiger clearance", this three novels constitute Xue Mo’s "deserttrilogy" in novel creation. The creation of "desert trilogy" inherits the tradition ofChinese novel realism, painted a beautiful picture of life in the west and produced aseries of farmers image, such as Laoshun, Yinger, Hantou etc. It tells a story of ruralfarmers’ spiritual change which have taken place in transition period in China’s westernrural place. It draws a picture of a "native desert world" epic picture scroll to the readers,It also reveals the western humanism concern of farmers’ living condition.After the "desert trilogy", Xue mo’s novel shows a obvious transition. Since2010,Xue Mo created "Xixia curse","A grey wolf Xixia" and "the death of king kong heart",this three novels constitute "Soul trilogy"."Soul trilogy" abandoned the traditionalrealistic writing technique, picking up the "pioneer" narrative. It runs through to the ultimate questions of life, for the profoundreflection of history, reflects the pursuit of spirit beyond religious feelings. From the"desert trilogy" to "soul trilogy", the author completed three shifts from realism to thefable, from traditional to pioneer, from enlightenment to religion.The transition of Xue Mo is a microcosm which happens in traditional Chinesevernacular novels in the1990s. It reflected the author’s self transcendence through"fixed memory" to "soul search". It reflects the big hand and influences his literarycreation practice. The creation of "soul trilogy" is a bold attempt which infuses thereligious feelings. It exploited a new orientation of the contemporary novel creation,brought a cool breeze to literary world. But at the same time it has shortcomings, for example, the value judgment is too simple. The question proposed for absolute faithproblems remains to be solved, the balance between religious and literariness is yet tobe further explored.The purpose of this paper is to analysis the "desert trilogy" and "soul trilogy" inwriting intention, the connotation of his works and the transformation of narrative ways.And this thesis tries to explore the transformation causes and its effects. Doing this is tofurther complement and enrich research achievements of creative transformation of XueMo.
