The Buddhism origin words in this article refer to the monosyllabic words,polysyllabic words, and phrases which originated from Buddhism. These words andphrases include Buddhism terms, popular words which come from Chinese translationof Buddhist sutra, as well as those words that used to be used by Buddhism, but thenchanged their meaning more or less after being used by Taoism. The Laozi Huahujing (aTaoism scripture) from Dunhuang remains8scrolls now, in which the content mostlyabout the journey of Laozi to the western countries to popularize Buddhism.This article mainly researches into the words that originated from Buddhism in Laozi Huahujing--the Buddhism origin wirdsThis thesis is on the study of the Laozi Huahujing from the Dunhuang Taoism inthe Tang Dynasty. During anglicizing the vocabularies in Taoist scriptures, we use themethod of synchronic and diachronic to describes them in detail and widely quoteBuddhism Literature and Taoism Literature. This paper mainly divided into fourchapters. Chapter one mainly introduces the Laozi Huahujing from the DunhuangTaoism and the definition of the Buddhism origin words, and the present research andits significance. The second, third, and fourth chapter are body parts of the paper.Chapter two discusses the ways which the Buddhism origin words are absorbed orchanged by Laozi Huahujing and try to conclude the general rule which the Buddhismorigin words are absorbed by Taoism vocabularies. Chapter three, it In chapter four, itcompiles the Buddhism origin words and lexicographical works in the Laozi Huahujing.What is more, according to the Great Lexion of Chinese, this paper revises the examples,paraphrase of the words from it.This article aims at studying the Buddhism origin words in Laozi Huahujing toprovide new evidence for the research of the history of the dispute between Buddhismand Taoism, to provide new material for the research of Chineselization of Buddhismorigin words, and to help studying Taoism linguistics. |
