Since the discovery of the Dunhuang sutra cave in 1900,Dunhuang manuscripts have attracted worldwide attention.Among them, the type of Chinese legacy letters is particularly rich, covering the regular script, cursive script, running script, seal script and other styles, and the content of the text accounts for more than 85% of the legacy letters.Dunhuang manuscripts,as an important branch of Chinese calligraphy, have a special history of development, and their forms are different from ordinary letters. As early as the northern and southern dynasties,it had strict rules, from the official writers of the court to the believers writing sutras, all in accordance with the written requirements to copy sutras. This is extremely rare from the perspective of calligraphy creation in the past dynasties. It is really impressive that under the limited circumstances of size, number of words and time,it can be written so beautifully.Among them,it is very common to list 17 words strictly, but the academic world is not clear about this phenomenon. This paper attempts to discuss the phenomenon of "word pattern" and "line of seventeen words" in Dunhuang sutra writing from the perspective of the form and structure of the works, through the comparison and analysis of chart plates and combining with my own professional creative practice.
