As a newly founded professional diploma, MTI attaches great importance to translation practice. According to the Training Scheme, students of MTI have to complete practice in terms of quantity and quality before graduation. During the past two and a half years of study, the author participated in many interpreting practices.This report is based on the author’s interpreting practice from July to September,2012for Yuan Longping High-tech Agriculture Co., Ltd (LPHT). During this period, the author worked as a training assistant for23official trainees of hybrid rice technology from nine countries and a liaison interpreter for23ministers from12countries to participate the Forum on food security in developing countries. The author was responsible for the interpreting of their daily activities in China, inspections, training classes and meetings. This paper attempts to show some interpreting skills according to the practical experience of the author and discuss the utilization of theories in practice as well as some relevant problems. In addition, this interpreting task belongs to the China Aid Project. The author will also share her own thought about the comprehensive ability that an interpreter should have.This report comes from the author’s working practice and talks from the two aspects of conference interpreting and liaison interpreting. Conference interpreting is divided into consecutive interpreting and simultaneous interpreting, which has the characteristic of high instantaneity. Conference interpreting is usually normal and its time and schedule are set in advance. However, the occasion of liaison interpreting is not that normal as that of conference interpreting. Liaison interpreter has a close contact with the participants and may act as many roles during the interpreting like tourist guider, reception personnel, etc. This report introduces the major interpreting practices, preparation for the interpreting, the interpreting process and case studies, interpreting theories involved in practice, techniques in tackling problems encountered, assessment from the clients, tentative conclusions, harvest got from the practices and the enlightenment and prospect for future study and work. This report consists of three main chapters besides conclusion. In conclusion part, the author makes a comprehensive summary about the practice and the problems unsolved in practice.
