A Case Study On Liaison Interpreting For2013Russian Summer Camp

This paper conducts a detailed analysis of a Chinese to English liaison interpreting in the Cultural Summer Camp of Novosibirsk State University of Economics and Management of Russia from July7th to July18th. The interpreting objects of this task are members of the Summer Camp. This liaison interpreting task features in long time working and multi-sites interpretation. Therefore, this paper mainly analyzes liaison interpreting in conference, tourism and banquet.This paper composes of four parts. The Introduction begins with the definition of Liaison Interpreting, and then distinguishes the differences between Liaison Interpreting and Conference Interpreting. Afterward, provides a brief review of the research of Liaison Interpreting and the main introduction of this interpreting task. The first chapter of this paper features the task description, provides a general picture of the background, objects, and purpose of the task.The second chapter describes the preparation and process of the interpreting task. The interpreting preparation contains background information, professional knowledge and interpreter’s psychological preparation. The process of the interpreting task includes Welcome Ceremony, Sightseeing, Farewell Ceremony and Farewell Banquet.The third chapter focuses on case study. The Liaison Interpreting of Conference mainly analyzes the interpreting of opening and concluding remarks, as well as the note taking of the Conference Interpreting. The Liaison Interpreting of Sightseeing conducts case study respectively in difficulties of Chinese-English interpreting during the visit of Jiangjiang Palace. The Liaison Interpreting of Banquet mainly analyzes interpreting of the names of Chinese Cuisine.The forth chapter concludes gain and loss from this liaison interpreting task, specifically useful experiences for future interpreting career.
