Biography translation has attracted increasing attention with the development of information explosion and globalization. Basically filled with accurate facts and sensational descriptions,biography has literary and non-literary features.Taking cross-cultural factors on the target language readers into consideration, many translators believe the communicative translation theory would be more and more useful.The theory can narrow numerous linguistic and cultural gaps between different languages, and help contribute to a smooth and natural translation which will not cause any cognitive barrier or misunderstanding for readers.Under the guidance of the communicative translation theory by Peter Newmark, I did part of the translation of Jony Ive.This report aims to analyze the application of the theory in practice with four chapters.The first chapter introduces communicative translation and project background.Chapter Two displays the typical features of biography. Chapter Three analyzes the translation with case study under the guidance of communicative theory. At last, I propose personal suggestions and practical solutions according to the proofreader’s feedbacks.I hope that this report could provide a reference for those interested in biography translation later...
