Cosplay is a kind of Role-Playing Activities which is subordinate to theAnimation industry, due to the found of comics, the Coser realizing the virtualcharacter by the methods of making up, dressing and using props. Actually, Cosplay isa consumption to the image symbols produced by the maternal culture. And in theprocess of the consumption, Cosers pursuing the height reduction, themselves bearingthe weight of maternal culture’s visual feature,these image symbols becoming theirSpecific consumer goods, this unique consumption patterns combined Cosers andformed a special group. Coser will provide to their consumer culture industry throughthe way of "collage", construct the identity service for themselves. Through to changethe body to a new image symbol, coming up new capital of consumption symbol andagainst the mainstream culture. Under the social of consumption, facing theAnimation industry which has a fundamental of economic, on one side, the culturalphenomenon of Cosplay can review the insufficient of industry chain of ChineseAnimation industry on the upstream; on the other side, Cosplay which on thedownstream of the Chinese Animation industry, also had some disadvantages, facingthe overwhelming of business incorporation, causing the opinions from every sides.This paper was established in the background of the postmodern consumer society,start from the visual culture phenomena, analyzing the cultural connotation ofCosplay culture deeply, such as reasons, processes, and so on. In the first part, first ofall, giving the culture orientation of Cosplay, make it clearly that Cosplay is aderivative of animation industry chain, it had beard the Characteristics of theAnimation industry image symbols, and it was the recreation of cartoon culture. Thenthe basic form of the existing of Cosplay culture. In the second part, through thechange made by the Cosers themselves, let their bodies becoming a communicationsymbol, to build the identity of Cosers at the same time of the cartoon image symbolconsumption. In the third part, in a consumer society, the cultural industry throughconstructing "ideal self"(animated images) production and dissemination of theaesthetic discourse power, Coser by the subtle influence of power discourse, want to consumer to achieve the aesthetic pursuit of the body. In the face of overwhelmingcommercial collected Cosplay culture has its own resistance style, body symbolpractice as a new capital.
