A Research On The Syntactic And Semantic Attributes And Asymmetric Characteristics Of Adjective "Gao" And "Di"

In modern Chinese,"gao"and "di (ai)"is a group of adjectives antisense polymerization which has a high usage but asymmetry. Their rich and dynamic semantics worth our in-depth discussion. Most research focused on the cognitive part, rather on the syntactic and semantic part. Furthermore, its’asymmetry phenomenen have not yet been fully studied. This paper attempts to make a systematic analysis on its’ syntactic and semantic properties.This paper also try to make a detailed description on its’ asymmetry. And try to find a further explanation to draw some more comprehensive and personality findings.The first Chapter is the introduction. It introduced the scope, purpose and significance of the topic.It summarizes the previous research results and points out problems to be solved.The second Chapter makes an semantic analysis on "gao"and "di" and analyzes its’ asymmetry on word formation part and explores the motivation of asymmetry.The third Chapter makes a study on its’ syntactic properties and the asymmetry on the syntactic level from aspects of syntactic attributes, a common format and common sentence structure. And analyzes the motivation of the asymmetry.The forth Chapter describes the distributions of adjectives "di" and "ai" in four domains respectively according to different referents.The fifth chapter will sum up the main perspectives of this paper and illustrate the questions need to be researched furthermore.
