Research On The Modal Words In "Linchuan Four Dreams"

“Linchuan Four Dreams” is the representative works of Tang Xianzu,which’s composed in the Ming Dynasty. The work has employed abundant modal words.However, there isn’t anyone studied these modal words systematically based on the dataavailable. Therefore, it boasts significance to study modal words in the book.This study will firstly verify e-version and prints of ‘Linchuan Four Dreams’,following by establishment of interjection database with modern information technology,and categorization, statistics, description and analysis.The paper is composed of four chapters.Chapter1is an Introduction to summarize the current status of the study, value oflanguage, study method and interjection-related issues.Chapter2counts and analyzes classical Chinese modal words in ‘Linchuan FourDreams’ and modern modal words.Chapter3describes and analyzes all modal words applied in ‘Linchuan FourDreams’ respectively.Chapter4is the conclusion on classical Chinese modal words in ‘Linchuan FourDreams’ and development of modern modal words, which finds that classical Chinesemodal words are disappearing while modern injections takes the shape gradually.However, the interjection system is not complete yet.
