This translation report is based on a translation of a book named76Ways to Protect Your Child from Crime. It is well known that children’s safety has been and will always be one of the themes in our society. An increasingly large number of the parents attach great importance to their children’s safety. As the surroundings become much more turbulent, every possible element can do great harm to our children. The book aims at reminding the parents of the potential criminals, protecting our kids from being the victims, and making parents feel unconcerned when their kids are out on their own.The writer chose three chapters to translate, covering more than twenty thousand words. Firstly, the translator describes the background of the project, showing the great significance of the text and translation. The use of the translation tools is also mentioned in the report, which is considered importanty as well. Meanwhile, the translator finds out lots of problems concerning translation, and analysing some phrases, sentences and paragraphs with certain relative translation theories, such as the parallel text and Skopos Theory.According to the analysis of some cases in this report, some conclusions can be reached as follows. Firstly, translation is usually involved with two languages, so a good command of two languages is of great importance. Long sentence is a very difficult part in the translation. The solution to it is to keep its meaning and sacrifice its form. Secondly, translation is not just an interlingual activity but an intercultural activity. In the end, the translator notices that there are still some existing defects within this report as well.
