Whether be an interpreting practitioner or a professional interpreter, interpreting self-practice and self-diagnosis is considered effective in the transformation from interpreters’competence to interpreters’ performance and may constitute a necessary stage that interpreters have to go through in their professional development. Inspired by the conceptual framework pertaining to interpreters’competence and performance, this study focuses on self-practice and self-diagnosis that the current researcher/practitioner conducted through retrospection in which the current research/practitioner described, classified and categorized errors identified in the simulated consecutive interpreting practice by referring to the assessment criteria of mid-term examination of Graduate Institute of Interpretation and Translation SISU. The underlying causes were carefully analyzed and some possible solutions were offered to errors commonly observable in the similar interpreting practice. The findings yielded from this study may shed some light on learners’interpreting practice and interpreters’professional development.
