As a report on consecutive interpreting, this dissertation describes the Consecutive Interpreting task since the American experts of WESCO agricultural corporation came to China to deliver alfalfa compressor to Chinese staff from Ningxia Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Department in May,2013. This dissertation analyzes the interpretation of the speeches addressed by the American experts and the Chinese government officials in the workshops and the banquet to discuss the interpretation difficulties as well as possible coping strategies and solutions through the application of Gile’s Effort Model.Assuming that the task process consists of "pre-interpreting preparation" and "interpreting", the report divides "pre-interpreting preparation" into two phases according to time order, each with a different focus and function, and describes the interpreting process, analyzing the difficulties encountered in this practice. In the chapter of "Case Analysis", the author classifies and analyzes the difficulties encountered in this practice through the application of Gile’s Interpretation Effort Model. Typical examples are selected for further analysis from2perspectives, namely, linguistic difficulties and extra-linguistic difficulties. In order to improve the interpreting quality, such interpreting strategies as "literal interpreting strategy","paraphrasing strategy","observation of body language strategy"and "omission strategy" are used in solving interpreting problems.Through the task description and analysis, the author draw the conclusion as follows:1.the interpreters should gather all possible resources to make full preparation to alleviate the pressure in interpreting;2. interpreters should tackle the interpreting difficulties emerging from the perspective of linguistic knowledge problems and extra-linguistic problems with possible interpreting strategies to shun uneven energy distribution and to improve interpreting quality.3. in the long run, the interpreters should attach great importance to the accumulation of subject knowledge in various realms and be familiar with the background knowledge in different fields while specializing in certain fields. Moreover, interpreters should keep practicing listening comprehension to various accents to improve the listening and analysis ability.
