A Correspondence Study Of Idioms About Hand In Korean And Chinese

There are idioms in both Korean and Chinese. Idioms are conventionally fixed phrases. It gains rhetorical significance through metaphor. Therefore, we can not simply understand idioms from its literal meaning. In our daily life, people use thousands of idioms and idioms about body are very popular.This paper compares idioms which related with hands in Korean and Chinese, in order to reveal similarities and differences of two languages when using idioms. This paper can be divided into four parts.The first part is the introduction which explained the purpose, research content and methods of this paper. It brought out Korean-Chinese literature review on hand idioms. As well as, it also determined the scope of the study of Korean and Chinese body idioms.The second part is about Korean-Chinese hand idioms’meanings. It analyzed the similarities and differences on structure and meaning of both Korean-Chinese body idioms. Firstly, this section determined the scope of Korean-Chinese body idioms. Secondly, from the perspective of structure of hand idioms, this paper brought out three types, that is, the same form with different meaning, the different form with same meaning, the different form with same meaning. Also, found the unique idioms in both Korean and Chinese.The third part is mainly in syntactical study of hand idioms. Firstly it explained the characters of hand idioms and then from syntactical study analyzed the classification of hand idioms. Though this analysis it found the unique part of two languages.The fourth part is the conclusion.
