This paper mainly references Lakoff and Johnson metaphor theory and Radden and Kovecses metonymy theory.Using quantitative analysis,qualitative analysis and comparative analysis to do a analysis about Chinese and Korean idioms associated with "hand" and "foot",and point out the similarities and differences in its cognitive mechanism.The similarity originates from the common cognitive model of han and han nationalities and the differences are rooted in the different thinking modes and cultural backgrounds of han and han nationalities.On the basis,some suggestion are given for the study of Chinese idioms related to the hands and feet of Korean students.This thesis is mainly discussed in six parts.The foreword introduces the purpose and importance of the research,Chinese and Korean idioms current situation,methods and the source of corpus,and determines the scope of the study.Chapter 1 divides the metaphor into two categories: spatial metaphor and container metaphor,and the four cognitive domains of behavior,psychology,state and ability will be refined to find the specific cognitive domains mapped to by the spatial domain and the container domain.Chapter 2 divides the metonymy into two categories: metonymy between the whole and part,metonymy between the part and part and selects one of the small class to study.Chapter 3 analyzes the similarities and differences between Chinese and Korean languages idioms associated with "hand" and "foot" in metaphor and metonymy.Chapter 4 bases on the analysis of the previous three chapters,some suggestion are given for the study of Chinese idioms of Korean students.The conclusion part generalizes and summarizes preceding content.
