A Report On Mock Conference Of Project Camelot

Nowadays, with the development of world economy, science research has played animportant role in meeting the ultimate goal of economic development. As a studentmajoring in master of translation and interpreting, I want to fulfill my interpreting workeffectively and efficiently. So with the efforts of my teacher and classmates, wesuccessfully held a mock conference interpreting. From this interpreting practice, Ipracticed all the knowledge that I learnt from class and had a clear layout of conferenceconsecutive interpreting. This is a very distinct opportunity moreover a task full ofchallenge. One can only do better when one knows his or her shortcoming. During thisconference, I clearly see my drawbacks and have a better sight of the way to improvemyself.This thesis consists three parts: introduction, main body and conclusion. Its maincontents are as follows:The first part is introduction, which mainly introduces that under the background ofcurrent situation, the development of science is the foundation of China’s developmentand even of the whole world. Domestic scientists and science amateurs need moreinformation of cutting edge science to let them have a bright outlook on their careers.Foreign scientists also like to see that their thoughts and ideas have vast audience. Thoseall require high quality of interpreting. The Project Camelot meets the need resulted bythese trends.The second part is the main body, which is made up of three chapters:The first chapter mainly introduces the relevant knowledge and concepts of ProjectCamelot; features of target audience; definition and features of conference consecutive.Project Camelot is a conference that provides a platform for people who are braveenough to reveal confidential information.The second chapter mainly introduces two parts: the preliminary research and laterpreparation. Preliminary research includes glossary of terms and the information of thisconference’s main speaker-David Wilcock. Meanwhile, later preparation containsworking environment, physical and psychological preparation. Project Camelotconference is a professional conference, for organizing and remembering vocabulariesare important and necessary to the interpreter. Figuring out some basic professional concept is also helpful. This requires interpreter to prepare before the meeting otherwiseit will be difficult to interpret. Another important factor for interpreter is thepsychological quality. Interpreting is an on-the-spot activity, so keeping confident,having good rest and fully preparation can help interpreter to behave well on the scene.The third chapter analyzes the cast study. Because this conference interpreting isEnglish-Chinese, the major problem is how to get the correct original languageinformation during the conference. Interpreting blank and loss of information are otherproblems, which are presented in my interpreting. The strategies of conferenceconsecutive interpreting, which I used during the interpreting, are informationreorganization, amplification, reasonable guess and timely remedy.The last part is conclusion, which makes a summary to the preceding critique. Thereare many mistakes that are caused in certain circumstances. Through this interpreting, Iclearly see my weakness and the space to improve. I am confident to do better in thefuture and become a qualified interpreter.
