With the globalization of the world and the rapid development of modern science and technology,our interactions and exchanges have increasing frequency.Cooperation is the requirement of a qualified modern citizen.Enhancing cooperative awareness and ability is becoming an important educational objective.However,in China’s interpreting teaching,traditional classes usually emphasize interpreting skills rather than comprehensive ability,especially cooperative ability.Lacking cooperative awareness and skills calls for more attention and effective solution.Cooperative learning(CL)is an effective theoretical system and practical approach with the focus on teamwork towards common progress.Evolved from the United States in the early 1970s,CL has been applied in various fields by many countries.Besides enabling positive interdependence among students,CL is crucial to improving students’comprehensive ability.Based on the current situation of interpreting teaching,this paper analyzes the application of CL in consecutive interpreting mock conference.Questionnaires,interviews,classroom observation and other instruments are employed in this paper.CL is proved in the research to be an effective approach.It creates a favorable interpreting learning environment for a better performance in class.It also improves students’ class involvement and enhances their learning autonomy.Besides,the research obeying the principles and requirements of CL gains experience for CL-guided organization of consecutive interpreting mock conference. |
