A Comparative Study Of Violent Consciousness Between ’Yukio Mishimas And Mo Yan’s Woks

Throughout all the times, violence has been a widespread phenomenon of social life.No matter what age it is, violence has been a common experience for most people. As areflection of social life, literature inevitably reflects violence. What’s more, the depictionof violence in literature also can promote the plot development of the story, intensify theauthor’s feelings and heighten the overall atmosphere of the works.Many literature works of Japanese modern writer Yukio Mishima and Chinesecontemporary writer Mo Yan have a large number of violence depictions. Thesedepictions of violence not only promote the plot development of the story, also reflectauthors’ thoughts. When comparing violence depictions between Yukio Mishima and MoYan, I analysis and compare in three aspects which are the type, perpetrators and victimsof violence. When analyzing the causes of violence ideology, after considering on thebasis of social, historical, and cultural factors and other factors in daily life, with threemain aspect as the author s life experiences, cultural heritage and values, take twodimensions of society and person as the basis of thinking, and combine with the contentsof their works, then conduct a comprehensive analysis.Violence ideology to be discussed in this article comes from the author’sunderstandings of reality, and the understandings finally will come back to realitythrough the author’s literature works. The value of this paper is: Firstly, by comparing thedifferences of violence ideology between Yukio Mishima and Mo Yan, we can find outthat they have completely different attitude towards violence. Secondly, we can deepenthe understandings of violence ideology of these two writers and Chinese and Japanese,literature and culture. Thirdly, according to the understanding and analysis of the causesand results of violence depictions in literature works, we can encourage people to thinkof violence phenomenon in daily life, therefore call for human kindness, oppose violence,and promote social harmony.
