Internship Report In Consecutive Interpreting On Kaziali Design Collaborative’s Bidding Show

Language, as the very tool of international communication, is showing itsimportance in political, economic and cultural exchanges with the continuousdevelopment of ‘global village’. As the bridge bearing two languages, translationwork plays a vital role in some key parts during the process of internationalcommunication. Since the21st century, interpretation practice has been increasingmassively, especially consecutive interpretation. Consecutive interpretation with itsunique characteristics is widely used in foreign affair meetings, business negotiationsand press conferences in political, economic, and cultural exchanges and cooperationall over the world. As the implementer of consecutive interpretation, interpreter’sability therefore needs comprehensive understanding and in-depth research in order tomeet interpretation work’s demands.This practice report is based on the author’s real experience as the interpreter ofKaziaLi Design Collaborative’s bidding show. It describes the details of theinterpreting process from the perspective of an interpreter. There are four partsincluded in this report. They are task description, task process, difficulty and strategyanalysis and practice summary. Moreover, it gives a full description of feelings andexperiences, and discusses how to deal with unexpected circumstances only found inreal scene rather than in books. The author attaches great importance on theinterpreter’s ability and quality, and further discusses the essential ability and qualityof an interpreter. The author also gains a lot from this real practice, and concludes thatinterpreter’s ability and quality are the most important to the outcome of interpretation.We should aim on training the interpreter’s ability in terms of social etiquette,bilingual skills, communication skills, psychological quality and culturalunderstanding so as to provide more accurate and influent internationalcommunication.Graduate students of Master of Interpretation need to continuously enhance theirlanguage study, and gain wider experiences through real practice. They also need toexpand the interpreter’s skills innovatively and constantly. According to language’sinstantaneity and innovativeness, they should always keep sensitiveness and freshnesstowards the two languages, and further understand their past, present and future for the perfect and accurate language transformation. Only in this way can the studentsapply what they learn and accomplish interpretation work, and make a contribution tointernational communication and build up China’s image in the world.
