Since the Cultural Turn of translation in the1970s, translation theorists havebegun to take a new look at the role of translators. Studies on translator’s subjectivitypoint towards an idea that translators are not slaves of the original work and theycould give play to their subjectivity in translating. In the meantime, with thedevelopment of intercultural communication between regions and countries in aface-to-face rather than written form, interpreters become increasingly important. Inthe new form of translating, interpreter’s subjectivity has also drawn researchers’attention. And from the objective perspective, to give play to an interpreter’ssubjectivity is intrinsically and externally necessary. And how an interpreter shouldgive play to his subjectivity remains a new area to be explored.Under the guidance of the interpreter’s subjectivity theory, Wittgenstein’s theoryof meaning, the principles of faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance andmoderation, I categorized instances from interpreting practice and go deep into thecontents of interpreter’s subjectivity, expound the necessity of giving play tosubjectivity, elaborate how interpreters should give play to their subjectivity and whatstrategies could be taken to mitigate interpreting errors.Joint points of interpreting practice and translation theories have been found in:1.the theory of meaning and necessity of giving play to interpreter’s subjectivity;2.giving play to interpreter’s subjectivity and required qualities of a good interpreter;3.different error types and correspondent qualities needed to eliminate errors. Beinglimited to the sources and amount of data, my study still needs to be improved.
