During The Period Of The Republic Of China Nationality In Xinjiang Region Travel Literature Research

During the period of the Republic of China, the folk travelogue hasexperienced a rapid growth with the modernization of the tourism. Compared with thelate Qing Dynasty, the number of travelogue related to Xinjiang has also become quiteconsiderable during this period featured by the relative political stability and trafficfacility. The authors of these travelogues are no longer confined to the officials on oroff duty. The content of the travelogue is also more diversified while the works andwriting style have become more flexible.The folk travelogue related to Xinjiang during the period of the Republic ofChina has been recognized as the precious private work regarding Xinjiang region inthe fields such as the politics, economics, culture, military affairs and local customs,which means that it has also offered the indispensable reference material for studyingthe history of Xinjiang region during the period. Except the introduction, the secondchapter of the paper will make a brief introduction about the background of the folktravelogue in Xinjiang during the period, including the stable situation in Xinjiang,the control over Xinjiang by the central government as well as the development oflocal traffic.According to the identity of the author, the third chapter will classify the folktravelogue into five groups, namely the travelogue of the official, the travelogue ofthe scholar, the travelogue of the reporter, the travelogue of the cultural and artisticcircle as well as the travelogue of the enterpriser. What is more, this paper will alsogive a general account of each type with the real cases and summarize the feature ofthe travelogues. In the fourth chapter, the value of the travelogue related to Xinjiangwill be also elaborated in four aspects, namely the literature, history, science andthinking. Finally, during the period of the Republic of China of travel literature in theXinjiang region has a unique charm opened the prelude to Chinese concerns inXinjiang in modern time.
