A Report On The Translation Of The Sixth Chapter Of Ethnicity And Race

This report is based on the English-Chinese translation of the sixth chapter of Ethnicityand Race by Stephen Cornell and Douglas Hartmann. The translator finished the translation ofmore than10,000Chinese characters. The translation is mainly about construction sites. Thisreport explores the following questions: how to ensure speed and quality by pre-translationalpreparations and analysis; how to achieve accuracy by using skopos theory as the guidingtheory for this translation activity; and how to resolve the difficulties we come across duringtranslation and make a proper conclusion of translation activity.The translator analyzes the difficult points in translation from two levels, andsummarizes translating experience. China is a multiethnic country with56ethnic groups.Therefore, researches of ethnicity and race are of significant value to the harmoniousdevelopment of Chinese society, and also a focus for Chinese researchers.
