The translation text, from chapter 6 to 7, is taken from a foreign classic works Ethnicity and Race, written by Doctor Stephen Cornell and Doctor Douglas Hartmann. Following the translation principles for the information-text and taking the target readers’ acceptability as guideline, the translator completes the work. The report discusses its main content, and translation strategies and techniques have been put forward on the basis of the information –text and language features to source text. The translation theory the report adopted is the “ functional equivalence” put up by Eugene A Nida, an American famous theorist, and the translation strategy is communicative translation. It has five parts: Chapter one introduces description of the translation task, including introduction of text background, its pattern and significance. Chapter two discusses the preparation before translation. Chapter three is about the translation theory and strategy the report adopted. Chapter four analyzes the translating difficulties from three levels: lexicon, sentence and culture. Chapter five is about the summary of the reporter’s reflection on the translation practice.
