This report is based on the Chinese version of Chapter1and2from Guide toCross-cultural Communication, which is coauthored by Sana Raynolds and DeberaValentine. Chapter1, Relationships: Individualism or collectivism, analyzes thedifferences between the two cultures in such aspects as space, privacy and logicalthinking and etc. In term of context communication, Chapter2, Social Structure:High or Low Context, deals with the differences in the understanding of socialstructure, the communicating habits and the observance of the Law.This report consists of4parts. Part1, translation task description, includes theselection of the source text and the analysis of the translation materials. Part2describes the process of translation, including preparation before translation, anddifferent steps during the translation work; Part3is the case analysis which is madein3aspects, such as comprehension, expression, and rhetoric. Part4, translationpractice, concludes the lessons learnt from this translation task, along with theprospect of direction in future translation career.
