On May 6th,2017,the author was invited to interpret for an Australian client in such famous scenic spots as Beishan Park and Songhua Lake in Jilin City. This report is a reflective report on the guide interpreting of scenic spots in Jilin City.Guided by the interpretive theory, this report focuses on the problems encountered by the author during the guide interpreting and puts forward corresponding solutions.Firstly, the author introduces the background and preparation procedure distinctively. Then, the author gives a detailed analysis of the problems encountered in this interpreting task including misinterpreting caused by inadequate cross-cultural awareness and inadequate extra-linguistic knowledge as well as information loss due to high density of information and psychological stress. In view of the above problems, the author analyzes the process of the interpreting and the feedbacks of the client and the tour guide and then uses the interpreting strategies such as amplification and omission to re-process the information given by the client and the tour guide to deal with the difficulties encountered in the practice by following the principle of "de-verbalization" under the guidance of interpretive theory.By doing this reflective report, the author hopes to be able to find effective ways to improve the quality of interpreting and expects to provide reference for interpreters in the future.
