The period of the late Qing Dynasty to National Republic of China is a special period of Chinesehistory from the traditional feudal society to modern society.Since the beginning of the1840Opium War,the gate closed by the Qing government is broken, a large number of western culture burst into China.Itcollided with Chinese concept and value.In this special historical background of the Chinese and foreigntobacco wars,the cigarette brand,this emerging things is generally accepted and loved by the public becauseof its compact shape, various and colorful content.The cigarette brand in a collection of industry belongsto the old trademark class, which combines painting, photography, calligraphy, decoration, layout design,printing and other techniques,can be called a kind of practical works of art. The cigarette brand isundoubtedly an important part of the history of modern graphic design Chinese, this paper researches onthe cigarette brand visual imagine design of the late Qing Dynasty to the National Republic of China,elaborate the impact to the Chinese modern cigarette brand visual imagine design caused by the westernculture.Mainly summarized from the aspects of the cigarette brand visual image design graphics, text, color,layout, analyses the profound research cigarette brand visual image design of the cultural and artisticconnotation and historical significance, explore innovation and change our traditional arts in Chinese andWestern culture melting period.Based on numerous documents and monographs about the cigarette brandvisual image design.This paper discussed the significance and value,the current situation and background of the visualimage design of cigarette logos in the first place on the basis of researching numbers of related monographsand literatures. Combinedwith models of modern Chinese cigarette logos visual image design,this paper focused on the analysis andresearch of the visual image design with the exploration of the graphics features from both traditionalChinese and Western elements primarily, then inquired the color matching features with the three primarycolors, complex and complementary colors, black and white features, followed by analysis of calligraphy fonts, calligraphy, the Latin characters and decorative letters. In the final part, this paper found thefunctions and role in visual image designing of cigarette logos and explored the aspects of the layoutfeatures and style by the analysis and the impact of the progress of Western culture and design trends forcharacteristics of the layout.With the rest parts of this paper, referred subjects and connotations wereanalyzed with the below six aspects: Western civilization and technology, Chinese classical literatures,exotic features, female advancement, Chinese operas and the spirit of patriotism.The author firstly analyzed the significance of this research topic in modern Chinese cigarette, presentsituation and background, as well as the objective and value of the research. Then, analyse the structure ofthe cigarette, and the cigarette material classification, the development of commercial economy, the Westinfluence gradually, also include to the historical background of the formation of audience aesthetic tastechange these aspects.This paper focuses on the analysis of the visual image design and Research on thecigarette brand visual elements,combined with some cigarette brand visual image design of modernChinese example.First of all from the two aspects of traditional China elements and Western elements todiscuss the cigarette brand characteristic of graph, and then from the primary in color, color andcomplementary color, black and white four aspects to discuss the match characteristics of smoke in color;then, through the study of calligraphy, calligraphy, Latin text font, decorative text analysis, to explore themin cigarette brand visual image design of the function and role;by the end of the layout is analyzed and theadvanced western culture and design ideas for the cigarette brand layout design, to explore thecharacteristics and in the layout design of the cigarette brand style.The next part, this paper mainly analyzesthe theme and connotation of modern Chinese cigarette brand, The analysis will be presented in the followwing six aspects the introduction of technology of Western civilization,the heritage of classical literaryclassics, exotic lands characteristics, record times female progress, promote China drama culture, andpromotion the spirit of patriotism.Starting from the Opium War in1840, the people’s Republic of Chinain1949, this one hundred years Chinese experienced political upheaval, from the traditional feudalimperial,,dynasty evolved into a widely accepted Western Democratic Republic, all kinds of thoughts inthis period has greatly enriched the treasure house Chinese modern design history, the modernconsciousness of Enlightenment Chinese it also has an important significance.American historian DavidLanders once said that the development of culture is a factor not to be ignored in the development of economy, the economy can promote the development of culture, while culture can also turn oneconomic.Research on China modern cigarette brand visual image design can not be separated from thesociety and the human understanding,only by learning Chinese modern social conditions and people’sliving needs, aesthetic needs.We can deepen the understanding of the cigarette brand visual image designimportance, can know how the cigarette brand visual image design get more close to people’s life and themarket for commercial packaging requirements, also it will has more cultural connotation.
