Golding (William Golding,1911-1993), is a famous contemporary British novelist, and the winner ofthe1983Nobel prize for literature. Golding is well-known in the western world for "fable", so his novelsare rich in meanings, widely into the classical literature, mythology, Christian culture and symbolicsignificance. His novel in1967,"The Pyramid", different from many of his fable style works, tells the storywhich happened in a small town of Britain. The book shows the ways of the world in Stilbourne by the heroOliver’s first person perspective.Golding as a British writer after World War II, in the innovative culture, his writings is consciouslyinto the features of modern novels, and his novels reflect the innovative unique use of narrative angle,narrative method and so on. In view of this, this choice is based on exploring the narrative art of "ThePyramid", and from the study of the space-time structure and view mode, we have the unique narrativetechniques, further exploring the attitude implied by the author and the different experience that semi-autobiographical narrative leaves to the reader.The full text is divided into five parts:The introduction--academic research, it discusses the writings and the award of Golding, theacceptance of "The Pyramid" at home and abroad and the innovation of this paper.The first chapter--space-time structure of "The Pyramid". Analyzing the time and space structure, itpoints out that the structure of time variation is arranged deliberately by the author, and closed physicalspace is the epitome of the British society and the human living environment.The second chapter--view mode of "The Pyramid". In view of the first person retrospective narration,it analyzes the first person perspective of this novel, and the use of experience perspective expands "mymental space". At the same time, focusing transform from memory perspective, influences the reader’semotion.The third chapter--the hidden narration of "The Pyramid". This chapter focuses on the novel’snarrative effect. Golding establishes the sympathy and irony that make readers empathy but not in, toforgive the hero Oliver but find the unforgivable thing, so conflicting emotions make the reader thinking over and over again.The conclusion--conclude the whole article. The creation of "The Pyramid" is influenced by theliterary environment that the art of fiction after war changes and the theme of the times in twentieth centuryappears.
