Krzysztof Kieslowski is an important Polish director in the20th century, hisworks are extremely concerned about the state of human existence. In his filmsCamera Buff, Blind Chance, No End, The Decalogue, The Double Life ofVeronique, Three Colours, and other films, His focus is the state of humanexistence, and death is his focus of attention. The death theme of Kieslowski’sfilms is associated with Existentialism, we can get a glimpse of his thoughts andthe understanding of life by analyzing his films with Existentialism. In the films,he shows a crippled state of the existence of life, but also presents a complete stateof life, namely the cycle life of birth-death-birth. Meanwhile, he described thecurrent discordant situation of human living state due to self-defects, and howhuman to be bound in world, he is trying to figure out that human can obtainself-liberation and live in liberty if he/she keeps himself/herself in the mind ofdying, via acquiring the ability to love, and loving. In the liberty living state,human may transcend death. Kieslowski expresses his pursuit of the existence oflife with lens, and the road which he points out is that everyone should go toexplore.
