A Report On Translation Of Business English From The Perspective Of Functionalist Theory

The functionalist translation theory is a theoretical system of multi-translation standard led by Skopos theory. The theory broadens the field of translation studies. This report based on the practice of the business English translation under the guidance of the functional translation theory. In the frame of functionalist theory, the most important theory is "Skopos theory", which was brought out by German scientists in1970s to1980s, providing several practical principles in business English translation, such as the coherence rule, fidelity rule and function plus loyalty principle.After analysis of these principles and rules, this report believes that the study of the functionalist theory can improve the business text translation quality and academic research position and consolidate the theoretical foundation of the business translation study; at the same time, it also has some reference value for the theoretical study of Chinese translation and can provide business English translators more flexible ways to make the target text live up to the source text’s intended purpose or function.
