A Cultural Research On The Vegetation’s And Livestock’s Symbols In The Ancient Zhuang Character Dictionary

The ancient Zhuang characters,also called Sawndip,generally defined as Zhuang ancestoraccording to their own survival environment and the national psychology in the long-termproduction and living situation created a kind of import ethnic characters that follow the exampleof Chinese characters.it was created by borrowing Chinese characters or Chinese characters’component and Six Books theory.The Zhuang people have injected with their own culturalcharacteristics and thinking habits when they created this kind of characters,also all thecharacters’ component and theories from Chinese characters.Especially the symbol’sselection,often have a big difference with Chinese characters,reflect on the cognitivecharacteristics of the Zhuang people,making it possible to research Zhuang folk culture andreligious belief through the Zhuang characters’symbol.On the research object and scope,base on the Minority of the Guangxi ZhuangAutonomous Regjion editing and publishing of ancient books planning leading group of theAncient Zhuang Characters Dictionary (2012edition) of vegetation’s and livestock’s twentysymbol of the basic basis,Around the Zhuang nationality’s cultural phenomenon including on itsfarming culture,architectural culture,textile printing and dyeing culture,funeral and religiousculture,has chosen the more than five hundred ancient Zhuang characters of the dictionary forwriting material for analysis.Found in the analysis,the ancient Zhuang characters on the symbolchosen mostly the same as the Chinese characters,but there are also some symbols comparisonwith national characteristics.Such as,in its farming culture,the symbol of “grain”is widely used inthe kind of grain,food,tools and agricultural in the ancient Zhuang characters,shows the culturecharacteristics that in the Zhuang’s society, rice is not only the main food crop but also the staplefood;symbol”cattle”and”horse”is also used in the ancient Zhuang characters that express toolsand agricultural labor,reveals the farm animal,such as horses and cattle plays an import part inZhuang rice production.The fruits and root grain crop of the ancient Zhuang characters inaddition to using the conventional symbol,such as “bamboo”,”grass”and”tree”,also chose“grain”as a part of construct meanings, shows the fruit,potato and taro have a important positionin the diet culture.In their architectural culture,both architectural form,building materials and construction practices,have chose a large number of plants symbol,reveals the architecturalfeatures of “Ganlan Culture”.In the textile dyeing and printing culture, color words also usedmany symbols that express grain,for the research of Zhuang folk textile printing and dyeingtechnology provides the basis.In the funeral culture,both ways of funeral and burial utensils moreused “grass”and”tree”as its symbols,suggested that in the ideology of Zhuang person is “theimmortality of the soul”, like vegetation that can live endlessly.In its religious culture,the ancientZhuang characters that express the parts of the body of people and other animals and the humanbody or mental state also use many of the vegetation types of symbol,make a mind with ancestorworship and plant worship of religious thoughts,etc.Those selection of the ancient Zhuangcharacters’symbol has a big difference with Chinese characters,which contains the Zhuangpeople’s unique thinking habits and cultural psychology,is the focus of article research.On the cultural research of the ancient Zhuang Characters’s symbol in this paper, we try touse some different opinion to explain the cultural sense of the symbols, and on the characters’schoice, the thesis brought all kinds of the ancient Zhuang Characters into the research scopeexcept the Zi yuan Characters. This thesis also explain some whole characters’s cultural meaningas it’s a semantic part used like a symbol.In this paper’s content,not only using the theory of Six Books,some concepts of structuralsemantics and cognitive semantics, but also relating to anthropology, archaeology,architecture,folklore,religion,and other subject knowledge. It is a comprehensive research in the field ofinterdisciplinary.
