Horsetail embroidery is a kind of special embroidery skills andhorsetail made by women,which pass on from generation to generation inthe Shui nationality area. It is mainly used for the production of straps,followed by shoes, hats and women’s apparel. Horsetail embroidery straphas exquisite designs, rich in content and complex production process. itis a magnificent work of art. Since2006horsetail embroidery has beenentered first national intangible cultural heritage, it started from theboudoir to the numerous outside world, but also began to receiveattention in academia.In order to better protect,inherit and promote the horsetail embroideryart from Shui nationality, In this article, the author take the Bangaovillage in Sandong township,Sandu county which is known as the firstvillage horsetail embroidery as a entry point, using the methods ofanthropology and other disciplines, on the basis of several fieldworks,tomade a preliminary comprehensive theoretical study.This article documents the production methods and processes of thehorsetail embroidery, then revealing the embroidery and cultural’s uniqueorigins and heritage. To cultural heritage of the body-the women as themadders of horsetail embroiderys. the author also made a in-depthinterviews to them,then further clarified the survival context ofinheritors,and the ins and outs of the horsetail embroidery.In addition, the paper makes a investigation and analysis of multi-angleto the specific content of the horsetail embroidery. After research showedthat,the production process,the art features the and artistic achievement,mainly reflected in many aspects of color and pattern. The colorful language of the pattern is relatively simple and quaint, it is common touse generalization, abstraction, exaggeration, distortion and othertechniques, the pattern always be eautiful and elegant, Its uniquecomposition form is endless charm.The horsehair applied to the embroidery, which is the artist’s originalityof the Shui nationality.The pattern of the horsetail embroidery appears toscrutinize quiet., forming a clear distinction with colorful Miaoembroidery from neighboring areas.The rich pattern can reflect the mythsand legends of the Shui nationality. and their water books, concept ofnature worship and other religious and cultural elements,can reflect theecological contexts of the long history of the Shui nationality and live inharmony with nature,. Horsetail embroidery craft composition, comlexand varied, rich but not gaudy, it is very easy to realize the uniqueaesthetic charm of the Shui nationality.Horsetail embroidery not only has its formal beauty, also fully reflectsthe Shui people’s yearning and pursuit for a better life. It is a traditionalnecessities of life in the Shui nationality of social production has beenplaying a unique role and function. On one hand it is a cultural symbol,the more it is reflected unique culture of the Shui nationality whichclosely linked with the women’s lives. Horsetail embroidery is a processof cultural created to meet the needs of people by Shui people, thus itderived parenting, comfort, aesthetics and other multiple functions. Moreimportantly, it is the traditional ethnic identity, the task of carrying thenational cohesion.Finally,The author also puts horsetail embroidery into the context ofglobalization.,resolving the relationship between man and horsetailembroidery to seek the context and heritage of its survival mechanism ofthe horsetail embroidery, then made a point of that the key of livingheritage and development is to seek a more harmonious relevant points,between the human’s development and the development of substance.
