Practice Report On Translation Of American Novel Angel

With the progress of science and technology and the rapid development of Internet,the way of communicating and obtaining information becomes diversified. Translation is not only the transformation of twolanguages, but is the exchange of different cultures. Compared with other genres, novelcontains more cultural implication, so cultural factors have to be taken into considerationfor fictional translation.The practice report is based on the translation practice of the first chapter and thesecond chapter of American novel Angel. The novel Angel, written by American famouswriter Barbara Taylor Bradford, following the quirky love story of Gavin and Rosie,describes life experience of several young people and praises the angelic virtues ofheroine Rosie. The first chapter begins with fight scene of Gavin to lead to thedescription of Gavin and Rosie. In the second chapter, the writer mainly narrated thework of Gavin and Rosie and related characters.Combined with the typical cases in translation and guided by the Cultural Theory ofTranslation, the practice report mainly discusses how to choose translation strategieswhen dealing with the typical difficulties, and then a conclusion is drawn. This practice isthe process of finding and solving problems, aiming to improve the ability to solveproblems and master more translation strategies, which can lay a solid foundation for thefuture translation work.
