Zhixia is an ancient Chinese literary Critical criticism discourse. It means that critics pointout the errors or problems of literary creation. Zhixia was first used in literary theory by Liuxiein his book named Wenxindiaolong. But as a critical activity, Zhixia appeared very early.However, the content and views of Zhixia can be found dispersed in many books and there wasnot a theoretical book about Zhixia. With the development of Chinese poetics,Zhixia hadgradually developed. On the one hand, its content expanded from words, temperaments andallusions to type of writing, style, structure, idea and other metaphysical aspects. On the otherhand, Zhixia has different characteristics and reflects the innovations of literary ideas with thechanging times. Finally, Zhixia has many values such as promoting to rethink literary creationand to interact between literature and literary criticism, correcting errors of old ideas, helping tochange and evolve the literary ideas and playing an important role in the evolution of ancientpopular styles.Firstly, the article traces the origin of Zhixia and defines it. Then it organizes andsummarizes the content types of zhixia through interpreting the original poetry works of ancientChinese. Thirdly, we discuss the roles and values of Zhixia in the evolution of ancient popularstyles. Finally, the article explores the significance of Zhixia for the contemporary Literarycriticism. On the one hand,this paper aims to sort out the literary criticism discourse of ancientChinese and makes up for the study lack of the ancient literary criticism methods. On the otherhand,through this study, we hope to inquire into the transformation of ancient Chinese literarytheories and the absence of criticism discourse in contemporary.
