| With the transformation of the society, the late Qing poetry is not as flourished as theTang poetry, However, the number is more than any time berore. Jiangxi has been called “theland of gifted talents and treasuresâ€since ancient times, there still emerged a lot ofrepresentatives of poets in Jiangxi literary circle during this period, Wei Yuankuang is one ofthem.Wei Yuankuang (1857-1936), renamed Qianyuan, meaning garden, the author of “gardenpoetryâ€, including more than400poems. The poetry was rich in content, deep in thoughtemotion. Because of the late Qing social transitions, he was thought more conservative, actingas the past, therefore his life experience and his works have been neglected, leading to rareacademic research on his works. As a important poet, Wei’s poems“garden poetryâ€had not gotattention as expected. Therefore this article attempts to provide a more comprehensive viewon him by conveying complete research on him from his life experience to his poetic works.This paper mainly divided into four chapters. The first chapter is mainly an overview, Iget a cut-in point to the research of Wei by learning the Chinese poetic circles in the late Qingand early Repubulic, including his life experience, friend-making conditions, the editions ofhis poetic collection, and the researchs on his works; The second chapter mainly uses theclassification research introduce its content and thoughts, the content can be divided into sixparts, including: feeling and memories, meditate on the past, landscape pastoral, singing fromthe moral, friends answering, mouring; The third chapter mainly introduces its art style andfeatures, discusses the poems’ style origin and different characteristics with different diversitystyles; The fourth chapter mainly discusses Wei’s evaluation and his impact on the parnassus.The purpose of this paper is to call on more attention to Wei and his works, in order to extendhis influence in the literary of Jiangxi, to establish his significance in Jiangxi culture. |
