According to the poll conducted in 2011 by Anti-Defamation League, 15% people in the United States consider themselves as anti-Semitic, which is still a considerable number. As the internet is taking a large part in one’s daily life today, anti-Semitism is possibly transmitted through internet more and more often. In this paper, anti-Semitism taken the form of jokes will be analyzed.Online anti-Semitic jokes have rarely been discussed by scholars, as the readers online are invisible and thus difficult to be analyzed. This paper has found a new way to analyze the readers of the online jokes by applying the tool website.Constructed with linguistic devices that resemble metaphor and other rhetorical devices, humour has the inbuilt ability to support racism in various readings. Through a discourse analysis of anti-Semitic jokes, this paper outlines the inferior stereotypes of Jewish people in jokes and how these jokes reinforce racism.
